The Audit Committee is responsible for:
Reviewing qualified candidates and selecting for employment, the individual/firm to perform the annual audit of the AVA.
Receiving the annual report prepared and submitted by the individual/firm accomplishing the audit.
Reviewing the audit report and making appropriate recommendations regarding its contents to the Executive Council.
Reporting to the NEC.

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for:
Reviewing the AVA Bylaws and recommending changes to the Executive Council and members.
Working with the Executive Director to assure timely release of information necessary for any Bylaws changes.
Recommending wording and procedures for presenting and clarifying changes.

The 2017 Convention Committee is responsible for:
Securing cities to bid on the Biennial Convention to be held four to six years out with these bids to be presented at the upcoming convention.
Reporting to the NEC on the status of work of the committee working on the covention after the upcoming one.

Working with the NEC and Executive Director to assure consistency of recognition between regions.
Developing and announcing procedures and timetables for soliciting nominations for recognition awards.
Reviewing all applications for recognition and making recommendations to ensure conformity and consistency with AVA policies and between regions.
Recommending to the NEC those nominated individuals, clubs or organizations for approval.
Working with Executive Director in setting time and methods of distributing awards.
Reporting to the NEC.

The National Program Committee is responsible for:
The National Program for Long Distance Events (LDE) committee, was created in response to input from our 2015 survey. We are currently working on creating a Regional Program in Wisconsin (the Ice Age Trail), which will launch 1 April 2017. We are working with other Regional Directors to create Walking Programs on the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail in 2018. We have added a new search capability on the AVA Events Website (Distance 20km +), which will enable walkers to find walks that are 20km or longer.

The ADHOC Fund Development Committee is responsible for:
The Fund Development Committee is the NEC’s central source of information about the status of the organization’s fund-raising activities and leads the NEC’s participation in resource development and fund-raising. The committee works with the Executive Director to develop the AVA’s fund development plan including policies, procedures, and schedules for NEC involvement; and, identifying, cultivating and approaching major donors, corporate sponsors and potential grant sources.
