Join the Happy Wanderers for these AVA-sanctioned 6 KM (3.7 miles) or 11 KM (6.8 miles) group walks in beautiful Ponce Inlet, FL. 6KM walk down the beach to the poles starting beach driving, turn around, back to parking lot. 11KM walk continue down beach, through lighthouse point park, past the Marine Science Center, to overlook of the Halifax River and back to the parking lot.
The cost is $4.00 for participants 12yrs old or older. Children to be accompanied by an adult. Tailgate Registration 7:30AM. Volksmarchers will receive IVV/AVA credit for this event. You may walk with the group or at your own pace – pick up a map/directions at registration.  

The walk is rated 1C (flat & moderate), as a significant portion of this walk is on the beach (hard-packed sand.) Or you can walk along the sidewalks on A1A, parallel to the route. The alternate route is suitable for wheelchairs/strollers and leashed pets.

If you do not have a season pass for Indiana DNR properties, the gate fee is $7 for Indiana plated vehicles and $12 for out-of-state plated vehicles.  Recommend carrying water with you along the trail and having head cover available.

In May NSTT will kick off the walking season with two events at Myre Big Island State Park near Albert Lea. On May 17-18 we’ll do two different one-day events at the park, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

The Saturday event is sanctioned for 11K made up of a 5k and a 6k loop. The Sunday event is sanctioned for 10K made up of 4k to 6k loops. Trails are a well-maintained mix of grassland and woodland.

3 trails available of various lengths. 6k El Calderon Trail in El Malpais N’tl Monument leads thru a lava field with collapsed lava tubes to a volcano cone. Trail is gradual uphill until the cone, then a switchback to the top, before returning to start. Then 6 miles west to Ice Cave & Bandera Volcano (2k hike) to crater and an Ice Cave with a frozen pool year round. Finally a 3k walk at El Morro N’tl Monument, 18 miles further west. El Morro was an important stop for pioneers because of its water hole. Hike one or all for a combination of 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 11K.

Then we’ll travel to explore the Chaco Culture N’tl Historic Site near Seven Lakes, Chaco was the center of Chacoan culture dating back to the 1200’s. The site features 5 major pueblos and hiking trails.

Capitol Volkssport Club – DuPont Sequalitchew Creek Walk

Enjoy a walk through the woods along the Sequalitchew Creek as the trail follows the former Dupont Rail Line down to the Sound. Remnants of the old Powder Works Dock are visible at the Beach, from which you can sometimes see seals and porpoises. On a clear day, you can see views of the Olympic Mountains in the distance. The paved/gravel trail is rated 1A. The 10K walk adds a loop through Dupont town, and winds between the historic Hudson Bay site and an old Apple Orchard before ending back at the start point. Walk during daylight hours.
