HOOSIER HIKERS – TIPPECANOE RIVER STATE PARK

The Hoosier Hikers offer a group guided walk of their seasonal walking event at the Tippecanoe River State Park (Event MA26/Y3849) to introduce the public to the joys and thrills of Volkssporting activities that may be experienced on Indiana Department of Natural Resources properties. Registration may be done through the Online Start Box (OSB) offered by America’s Walking Club.  Registration will also be available on site for this activity to accommodate the general public and anyone unable to use the AVA Online Start Box.  The registration fee for this event for all participants is $4.  The Park may also charge an entry to the park, which is $7 for Indiana plated vehicles and $15 for out-of-state plated vehicles.  The Start/Finish Point for this activity is the parking area nearest the Nature Center, where you will encounter signage for a Volkssporting activity.  Detailed information for this event may be found by clicking the blue link above.

There’s lots to see in this small, walkable town! A picturesque cemetery, nature trail dotted with spring wildflowers and a small wetlands are all featured on this walk.

Maryland

Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Walking Club – GERMANTOWN/LITTLE SENECA CREEK

Walk is on sidewalks and asphalt trails with no significant hills.
The 5k loop leaves Germantown – named after a merchant of German origin. It then meanders around 18-acre Lake Churchill with its shade trees and abundant waterfowl before returning to the vibrant small downtown of Germantown with its plentiful and bountiful restaurants. The 10k loop leaves Germantown for a stroll next to the scenic 505 acre Little Seneca Lake that is part of the stunning Black Hill Regional Park before returning to downtown Germantown.

Missouri

Saint Louis Walkers – Valley of Flowers Festival

Our walk is in conjunction with Florissant’s annual spring festival. Florissant is one of the oldest settlements in Missouri, first settled by the French and in 1786 founded under Spanish rule. The route passes many historic homes and even a classic car display set up for the occasion. After the walk, walkers can enjoy the carnival and a Knights of Columbus bratwurst (although that’s not French or even Spanish).

Saint Louis Walkers – New Town at St. Charles Walk

New Town at St. Charles is a uniquely designed housing project with neighborhood identities. Each neighborhood has a distinct style of architecture. Small neighborhood squares and courts weave throughout and all have access to canals crossed by scenic pedestrian bridges. These beautiful canals also manage storm water! The 10K route follows the Boschert Greenway before entering New Town. The 5K is an out and back. Our Start is at a park outside New Town.

Nebraska

Nebraska Wander Freunde Trailblazers – Standing Bear Lake

Walk around Omaha’s Standing Bear Lake. This walk will include the unique wind organ created by artist Douglas Hollis. The sculpture is a combination of metal pipes placed vertically in the ground. Each pipe has a hole in its side for filtering the wind and making sound. Sense its peace even in a strong wind. Also unique to this walk, will be the ability to cross the lake on the Floating Boardwalk. Join us any day 18-May 24.  We will host a walk each day.  Check our website at nebraskatrailblazers.com

Empire State Capital Volkssporters – Albany Tulip Walk

Walk starts in a park and then through the heart of downtown Albany, passing many historical sites before entering the Tulip Gardens in Washington Park. In the gardens, the King Memorial Fountain stands splendid and tall among the tulips. It was erected at the bequest of the sons of Rufus Henry King and was unveiled in 1893.

Empire State Capital Volkssporters – Saratoga National Historic Park

The Park encompasses the field of battle for the Battle of Saratoga fought here in 1777. American forces defeated the British in one of the most significant battles in world history and the first time a British army had surrendered. The battle is remembered as the “Turning Point of the American Revolution”. The park includes a paved tour road for cars, bicycles, and walkers.

The magical village of Round Lake was born in 1868 as a Methodist Camp Meeting town. The streets are arranged in a hub and a spoke pattern lined with tiny Victorian style homes. Look for a rare octagonal sided home on your walk.

The Albany Pine Bush is one of the best remaining examples in the world of an inland pine barrens. This gently rolling sand-plain is home to a unique variety of rare plants and animals, including the federally endangered Karner Blue Butterfly.

Meet at the Old Red Courthouse, 100 S. Houston in downtown Dallas. We will walk a modified route to explore the Old City Park, really nice. Then north to visit some of our newer parks on the east end of downtown. Afterwards we’ll have lunch somewhere. If you’re coming from Fort Worth, or the mid-cities, you can catch the TRE train into downtown Dallas to save parking and driving.

Meet at the Sheraton Hotel, 1701 Commerce St. The 10km walk also includes paths along Victorian Homes, the new campuses of Tarrant County College and the Trinity River. You will walk through the Fort Worth Water Gardens, where the movie “Logan’s Run” was filmed, walk thru historic buildings and experience the 35-block Sundance Square, an entertainment district that is home to a collection of restaurants, live music clubs, theatres, shops, and exciting nightlife. Plus…you’ll see Bass Performance Hall, rated one of the top 10 opera houses in the world.
