Join the Happy Wanderers for these AVA-sanctioned 6 KM (3.7 miles) or 11 KM (6.8 miles) group walks in beautiful Ponce Inlet, FL. 6KM walk down the beach to the poles starting beach driving, turn around, back to parking lot. 11KM walk continue down beach, through lighthouse point park, past the Marine Science Center, to overlook of the Halifax River and back to the parking lot.
The cost is $4.00 for participants 12yrs old or older. Children to be accompanied by an adult. Tailgate Registration 7:30AM. Volksmarchers will receive IVV/AVA credit for this event. You may walk with the group or at your own pace – pick up a map/directions at registration.  

The walk is rated 1C (flat & moderate), as a significant portion of this walk is on the beach (hard-packed sand.) Or you can walk along the sidewalks on A1A, parallel to the route. The alternate route is suitable for wheelchairs/strollers and leashed pets.

Ace Event  No IVV stamp.  Join The Happy Wanderers for a one hour, 3 mile, group “fun walk”.  Start Point:  Tuscawilla Park  1000 East Orange Avenue  Daytona Beach, FL  We’ll walk through this picturesque park, with zip lining in the majestic Oaks above us, and continue through a quaint neighborhood. Please wear walking shoes for the trails and sidewalks. This is a non-competitive walk for fun & fitness! The group will complete around 3 miles in roughly an hour.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The walk is free.  Newcomers are Welcome!!  The pace is 20 minute per mile pace.

Hook up with the Hoosier Hikers, an AVA affiliated Club in South Bend, for an enjoyable, fantastic and adventurous guided walk on the trails of the Indiana Dunes State Park. As you take in the rustic splendor of the Dunes, learn about Volkssporting and how it can benefit you.  This guided walk will begin at the parking area by Wilson Shelter. Upon entering the park follow the park signage to Wilson Shelter. If you do not have a season pass for Indiana DNR properties, the gate fee is $7 for Indiana plated vehicles and $12 for out-of-state plated vehicles.  Recommend carrying water with you along the trail and having head cover available.

In May NSTT will kick off the walking season with two events at Myre Big Island State Park near Albert Lea. On May 17-18 we’ll do two different one-day events at the park, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

The Saturday event is sanctioned for 11K made up of a 5k and a 6k loop. The Sunday event is sanctioned for 10K made up of 4k to 6k loops. Trails are a well-maintained mix of grassland and woodland.

In the gardens, the King Memorial Fountain stands splendid and tall among the tulips. It was erected at the bequest of the sons of Rufus Henry King and was unveiled in 1893.

You will also see unique Turning Point Suffragist Memorial and Lucy Burns Museum, which highlights 90+ year history of the former prison complex and events there during 1917 which helped women in the United States gain the right to vote.  Enjoy food and beverages at the Bunnyman Cafe (at the Workhouse) or Brickmakers Cafe (in Occoquan Regional Park).

Enjoy a walk through the woods along the Sequalitchew Creek as the trail follows the former Dupont Rail Line down to the Sound. Remnants of the old Powder Works Dock are visible at the Beach, from which you can sometimes see seals and porpoises. On a clear day, you can see views of the Olympic Mountains in the distance. The paved/gravel trail is rated 1A. The 10K walk adds a loop through Dupont town, and winds between the historic Hudson Bay site and an old Apple Orchard before ending back at the start point. Walk during daylight hours.
