National Walking Month 2025

In January 2020, the Board of Directors of the AVA: America’s Walking Club, declared the first seven days of April to be “National Walking Week” which would include the traditional “National Walking Day” sponsored by the American Heart Association from 2007 to 2019.

Northern Virginia Volksmarchers – Workhouse Arts Center Y0014

Join great guided group walk through the Workhouse Arts Center, on parts of the Fairfax County Cross County Trail and along the Occoquan River. 3-mile and 6-mile routes are on mostly paved surfaces. You will also see unique Turning Point Suffragist Memorial and Lucy Burns Museum, which highlights 90+ year history of the former prison complex and events there during 1917 which helped women in the United States gain the right to vote. Enjoy food and beverages at the Bunnyman Cafe (at the Workhouse) or Brickmakers Cafe (in Occoquan Regional Park).
